Ars Fidelium -- Art in the Light of Faith

About Ars Fidelium

Saint Luke painting the Madonna and Child beside his winged ox symbolSaint Luke the Evangelist, patron of artists
Ars Fidelium, the art of the faithful, is a sequential K–12 Catholic art curriculum being developed to form artistic skill, attention, and reverence through prayer, sacred art, and disciplined studio practice.

The program stands within the artistic and theological traditions of the Church. It approaches art not as decoration, entertainment, or self-expression alone, but as a formative human work shaped by truth, beauty, order, and the careful contemplation of creation.

Rather than presenting students with isolated projects, Ars Fidelium leads them through an ordered course of study. Prayer, observation of nature, geometry and proportion, the study and copying of masterworks, theology, and sustained studio practice work together to cultivate patience, craftsmanship, sound judgment, and a mature artistic imagination.

Ars Fidelium was established for Catholic families seeking art education that takes both the Faith and the work of the artist seriously. Family enrollment will open first, with future licensing planned for Catholic schools, parishes, and homeschool co-ops.

About the Founder

Tara Nunimaker, founder and curriculum designer of Ars Fidelium
Ars Fidelium was founded by Tara Nunimaker, an art educator with two decades of experience teaching K-12 art, curriculum and instructional design, and educational leadership. Her work joins practical classroom teaching with sustained study in studio art, sacred art, and Catholic culture. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Art Education, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and is currently pursuing a Master of Sacred Arts through Pontifex University.

Tara founded Ars Fidelium in response to a persistent absence in Catholic education: children are often offered Catholic subject matter without receiving a serious artistic formation. She believes students should encounter beautiful models, acquire genuine artistic skills, and be entrusted with work worthy of their intelligence, dignity, and baptismal vocation.

Every Ars Fidelium course is written, demonstrated, and developed under her direction, preserving a coherent progression and a consistent Catholic vision across the curriculum.
