Frequently Asked Questions

General Program Questions

What is Ars Fidelium?

Ars Fidelium is a sequential, studio-based K–12 Catholic art curriculum rooted in the artistic and theological tradition of the Church.

Is this a live class or a self-paced program?
Ars Fidelium is an on-demand program with guided video instruction and a required lesson sequence. Families choose when to complete each session, and students unlock lessons in order. During the founding release period, new studio content will be added progressively.

Is this an art appreciation program or a studio program?
Ars Fidelium is a studio program. While students encounter historical and sacred works, the primary focus is learning to make art through disciplined practice.

Age Range & Differentiation

What ages is the program designed for?

Ars Fidelium is being developed as a sequential K–12 curriculum. Family enrollment begins with Foundation I, and later courses will be added progressively.

How does the program work for older students?
Projects are structured so that older students may work with greater complexity, refinement, and independence within the same lesson framework. Guidance is provided to help families adapt expectations appropriately.

Do students of different ages work through the same material?
Students begin with the same foundational material, but expectations differ according to age, skill, and maturity. Older students work with greater complexity, refinement, and independence and may progress through foundational material more quickly.

Materials & Studio Practice

What materials are required?
Families receive a materials list before each studio block begins. Ars Fidelium favors a limited, intentional selection of quality tools and media that are reused across multiple lessons.

Does the program cover many different art media?
The focus is not on exposure to many media, but on meaningful engagement with foundational practices drawn from the visual traditions of the Church, including drawing, painting, sculptural form, and historically rooted crafts.

Will I need a dedicated studio space?
A dedicated studio is not required. A quiet, consistent workspace where materials can be used attentively is sufficient.

Pedagogical & Philosophical Fit

Is this program creative?
Yes, but creativity and imagination are approached as fruits of skill, attention, and formation rather than spontaneity alone.

Is this program religious instruction?
Ars Fidelium is an art program formed by Catholic theological understanding. Prayer, sacred themes, and liturgical awareness are integrated naturally into the work.

Is this program appropriate for non-Catholic families?
The program is explicitly Catholic in its orientation and assumptions. Families should be comfortable with this foundation before enrolling.

Structure, Pace, & Expectations

How much time does the program require each week?
Most sessions take approximately 30–45 minutes, although some studio projects may require additional working time. Recommended pacing varies according to age and course. Younger students generally work at a steady rhythm of one session per week, while older students may complete sessions more frequently.

Are there grades, points, or rewards?
No. Progress is measured through engagement, attention, and the gradual refinement of skill.  Self-assessment rubrics are provided for students and parents to reflect on the student's work and development.

Can we move faster or slower?
Families may take additional time when needed, but lessons must be completed in order. During the founding release period, the availability of new material will also follow the progressive release schedule described at enrollment.

Enrollment & Access

When does enrollment open?
Family enrollment is expected to open soon.

How does notification work?
Families may join the notification list to receive an invitation when enrollment opens. Notifications are sent only for significant program updates.

What happens after enrollment opens?
Registered families will receive access instructions and guidance for beginning the Foundation I course.

Technical & Practical Questions

Do students need their own accounts?
Each child receives an individual student profile so that progress can be tracked separately within the family’s membership.

Is the program compatible with homeschool schedules?
Yes. The program is well-suited to homeschool families seeking structured formation without rigid scheduling.

Can multiple children enroll from the same family?
Yes. One annual family membership includes every dependent child in the household, with separate progress tracking for each student.

Can I use this curriculum for a homeschool co-op or Catholic school art class?
Family membership does not include classroom, school, parish, or homeschool co-op use. Institutional licensing is being developed for these settings. Please contact us for more information about using the Ars Fidelium curriculum in your school or homeschool co-op.
